"...the reason my prayers touch so many people is because it is my greatest gift from God."
My favorite and most moving experience from my trip to Jamaica was on Wednesday when we sent to Jerusalem for a second time that week. After Mass was finished many of the residents went up to the front of the chapel said prayers or sang a song. Two of the residents Shakiria and Nadia gave their prayers and prayed for the volunteers. As they spoke about how grateful they are for what God gave them and the service we provide them with. It was amazing to see their faith shine through in prayer and the trust and love they have for us as people. Another resident, Shanice, also sang a beautiful song for us that really moved me. Their prayers and faith in God moved me to tears. One of the residents went up to sing “If You’re Happy and You Know It” which just made me cry more. This experience was the most touching and heart-warming thing I have ever been apart of. Afterwards, Shakira walked with her arms around me and told me, “the reason my prayers touch so many people is because it is my greatest gift from God.” She shared with me that she loves to go by the name “Prayer Warrior.”
